Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng Meets with Newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri

2019/02/14

On February 14, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng met with newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri, exchanging views on China-India relations and issues of common concern.

Le Yucheng welcomed Ambassador Vikram Misri to assume his new post in China and expressed that his assumption of office coincides with the new period in which China-India relations enjoy flourishing development. Last year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a historic informal meeting in Wuhan, charting the course for the development of China-India relations. The world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and both China and India are in an important development phase. The two countries should strengthen strategic communication and practical cooperation, properly handle divergences and issues, and implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, so as to consolidate the positive development momentum of relations between the two countries.

Vikram Misri expressed that I was deeply honored to be Indian Ambassador to China. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, India-China relations have enjoyed rapid development. The Indian side stands ready to, together with the Chinese side, enhance bilateral high-level exchanges, well conduct institutional dialogue, advance practical cooperation, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to jointly promote India-China relations for constant and forward-looking development.
