The First International Conference on Boundary Cooperation Held in Beijing

From October 29 to 30, 2019, the first International Conference on Boundary Cooperation was held in Beijing. About 100 people including representatives from the departments of boundary affairs, experts and scholars from 14 China's neighboring countries were present. Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech.

The conference was co-organized by the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and the Belt and Road School of Beijing Normal University. Themed on "Border of Friendship, Belts of Cooperation", the conference aimed to strengthen communication in boundary policy, vision and practice among various countries, exchange work experience in land border, enhance boundary management capabilities and discuss cooperation and development modes of border areas.

At the conference, all parties fully discussed land border policies and experience of demarcation, practices and experience of the joint inspection in border areas, boundary management and cooperation and the building of the Belt and Road Initiative. All parties agreed to further enhance dialogue and cooperation in border affairs, work together for professional personnel training, border cooperation studies and exchanges in mapping techniques, support local governments in border areas of various countries in actively carrying out exchanges and cooperation in various areas and support the convening of international conference on boundary cooperation to exchange views on and discuss border-related affairs of common concern
