Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Fu Cong Holds Consultation on the Iranian Nuclear Issue with Director-Generals for Political Affairs of Foreign Ministries of France, Germany and the United Kingdom

2019/12/20

On December 20, 2019, Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Fu Cong held consultation in Beijing with Director General for Political Affairs and Security of the French Foreign Ministry Philippe Errera, Political Director of the German Federal Foreign Office Jens Plötner and Director General for Political Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Richard Moore of the United Kingdom, who were paying a group visit to China. They exchanged in-depth views on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Both sides agreed that China and Europe should strengthen communication and coordination on the Iranian nuclear issue, actively implement the consensus reached at the Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the Iranian Nuclear Issue in September this year, firmly promote the full and effective implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and adhere to addressing issues related to the implementation of the JCPOA within the framework of the JCPOA Joint Commission. China and Europe should support diplomatic mediation efforts, jointly promote the easing of the Iranian nuclear situation, and safeguard the international nuclear non-proliferation system to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East.
