External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping Holds a Video Meeting of China-Tajikistan Inter-departmental and Inter-regional Security Cooperation Mechanism Leaders with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Khusrav Nоziri

On December 29, 2020, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping held a video meeting of China-Tajikistan Inter-departmental and Inter-regional Security Cooperation Mechanism Leaders with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Khusrav Nоziri. Both sides exchanged views on relevant issues about counter-terrorism and security cooperation between the two countries, the establishment of the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism and bilateral relations. Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan Chen Daiwen also attended the meeting via video link.

Cheng Guoping said as friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners, China and Tajikistan witnessed rapid progress in bilateral relations, deepening political mutual trust and productive security cooperation in recent years. Both sides need to implement the consensus of the two heads of state, further deepen counter-terrorism and security cooperation, make China-Tajikistan inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism more substantial and concrete, and create a development community and a security community between China and Tajikistan.

Khusrav Nоziri said Tajikistan attaches great importance to its relations with China and supports China in combating the violent and terrorist forces of East Turkestan Islamic Movement. Tajikistan is willing to work with China to make good use of the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism, promote practical cooperation on security and with adjacent regions, and jointly safeguard regional security and stability.
