On September 27, 2024 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Comrade Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. Wang Yi said, this year is of great significance to both Parties and countries. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the 8th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) were successfully held, drawing blueprints for the development of the socialist causes of the two countries. Noting that China is deeply implementing the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and pooling efforts to advance Chinese modernization, Wang Yi expressed the belief that this will bring new opportunities and impetus to China-Cuba cooperation.

Wang Yi said, China has always placed Cuba in a special position in its foreign relations, and it is the unswerving position of the CPC and the Chinese government to maintain, consolidate and develop China-Cuba relations. China is ready to work with Cuba to ensure the steady and sustained development of a China-Cuba community with a shared future. China and Cuba have always supported each other in the international and multilateral arena, jointly defended the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, upheld international fairness and justice, and safeguarded the common interests of developing countries. China has always opposed the United States' blockade and sanctions against Cuba and will continue to support Cuba in safeguarding its sovereignty and dignity. The China-CELAC Forum has gone through its 10-year history, and China looks forward to Cuba's continued active participation to promote overall cooperation between China and the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States).

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla asked Wang Yi to convey the most sincere greetings from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to President Xi Jinping and warmly congratulated on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said that Cuba and China will soon celebrate the 64th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and bilateral relations have always maintained a high level. He thanked the Chinese side for its assistance to Cuba's economic and social development, and for firmly safeguarding Cuba's legitimate rights and interests on international occasions. Cuba firmly pursues the one-China principle, steadfastly supports UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and opposes interference in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights issues. Cuba will continue to actively participate in CELAC-China cooperation and promote the development of CELAC-China relations.
