On March 23, 2025 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former Japanese Prime Minister and former Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia Yasuo Fukuda in Tokyo.

Wang Yi expressed appreciation to Yasuo Fukuda for being the first in Japan to endorse and support the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind put forth by President Xi Jinping, and for taking the lead in establishing the Cultural Exchange Institution for an Asian Community. He expressed the hope that Yasuo Fukuda and friendly people from all walks of life will continue to actively promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and bring the two peoples closer, making new contributions to the sound and stable development of China-Japan relations.

Wang Yi said that the current international situation is characterized by frequent chaos and an obvious increase in unstable and uncertain factors. China and Japan are geographically close and share many cultural similarities and intertwined interests. Noting that Yasuo Fukuda highly praises Confucian culture, Wang Yi said the two sides can advocate the Oriental wisdom of valuing harmony and enhancing empathy, and promote and practice Asian values. He expressed the hope that the Japanese side will work with China in the same direction, maintain the political foundation and public support for China-Japan relations, push for the sound and stable development of bilateral relations, and jointly promote peace, stability and prosperity in Asia.

Yasuo Fukuda said it is of great significance to deepen exchanges in various fields such as people-to-people, cultural and academic interactions between Japan and China. He expressed his continued commitment to promoting dialogue and cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding, and contributing to the improvement and development of Japan-China relations.
