Joint Communique Regarding The Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between the People's Republic Of China And The Republic Of The Ivory Coast

In order to promote and develop their friendly relations and cooperation, the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of the Ivory Coast have decided to establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level as of March 2nd 1983.

The establishment of the relations is baaed on the following principle's equality, non-aggression against the other country, mutual benefit, settling disputes through peaceful means, non-interference into internal affairs of the other country, mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and political and economic choice.

The Government of the People's Republic of China supports the endeavours made by the Government of the Ivory Coast to safeguard the independence of its country, ensure the respect for the sovereignty of its country and develop the economy of the Republic of the Ivory Coast.

The Government of the Ivory Coast acknowledges that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the entire Chinese people.

The Chinese Government states that Taiwan is an inseparable part of the territory of the People's Republic of China. The Government of the Ivory Coast has taken note of this statement.

The two governments will respectively send its ambassador to the other country at the earliest possible time, and in accordance with international practices, each government will render its assistance for the other government to build the embassy in its own capital and for the embassy of the other country to perform its duty properly.
