Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming Visits Germany

On 19 April 2022, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming met Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. The two sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Liu Xiaoming shared China's analysis of the current situation on the Peninsula. He pointed out that China holds an objective and impartial position on the Peninsula issue, supports all efforts that are conducive to de-escalation and dialogue, and does not want to see any side take actions that feed hostility or create tension. China welcomes the constructive role played by Germany for the political settlement of the Peninsula issue.

Tobias Lindner said that relevant parties should resume dialogue as soon as possible to address their respective concerns through discussion. Germany is willing to make efforts for easing the situation on the Peninsula.

On the same day, Liu Xiaoming visited the renowned German Institute for International and Security Affairs and exchanged views with experts and scholars over the Peninsula situation and international issues of mutual interest.
