On September 20, 2024, Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Sun Xiaobo held consultations on arms control and non-proliferation with Director for Defence and International Security at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the UK Stephen Lillie CMG in London. The two sides had an exchange of views on the international strategic security situation, the review process of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, outer space security, artificial intelligence, conventional weapons, chemical weapons abandoned by Japan and multilateral arms control mechanisms, among other issues.
