On January 8, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, upon invitation, attended the Independence Day reception hosted by the Embassy of Myanmar in China. Sun Weidong congratulated Myanmar on the 77th anniversary of its Independence Day and had an exchange of views on bilateral relations, among others, with Ambassador of Myanmar to China Tin Maung Swe.
