On 31 August, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, wrote an article titled Carry Forward Traditional Friendship And Seize on Opportunity of Time to Bring China-Somalia Relations to New Heights, which was published on the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).

In the article, Ambassador Wang recalled the profound history of China-Somalia friendship and presented opportunities of the bilateral relationship. He also briefed on the significance of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the importance of the upcoming Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), then expressed the readiness to work jointly with the Somali government and all sectors of society to add new prospects and impetus to the development of China-Somalia relationship and build a high level China-Somalia as well as China-Africa community with a shared future.
