Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian Holds a Press Briefing on PM Rabuka’s Visit to China

On August 30, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Jian held a press briefing on Fiji Prime Minister Rabuka’s visit to China at the Ambassador’s residence. More than 20 guests attended the event, including the members of PM Rabuka’s delegation, editors and journalists from Fijian media such as Fiji Sun, Fiji Times, FBC, Fiji TV, Fiji Village, Mai TV and Fiji Daily, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji.

Ambassador Zhou comprehensively introduced the fruitful results of PM Rabuka’s visit to China, thoroughly explained on the important consensus reached by leaders from both countries and their vision on China-Fiji cooperation in various fields such as poverty reduction, education, agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure.

Warm and friendly talks were carried out during the briefing. The Ambassador then answered media’s questions about two sides collaboration in opening direct flights to Fiji from mainland China, poverty reduction, trade, drug control, and vocational training.

The event was extensively covered by the Fijian media, who spoke highly of China’s foreign policy to PICs, and China’s genuine support to Fiji, and looked forward to earliest implementation of the visiting results so as to benefit the two countries and their people.
