Chinese Embassy in Liberia Hosts the 2025 Chinese New Year Reception

On January 24th, the Chinese Embassy in Liberia held the 2025 Chinese New Year Reception. More than 300 people attended the reception, including H.E. Ms. Kartumu Yarta Boakai, First Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, President Pro-Tempore of the Senate, Hon. Mr. Sylvester M. Grigsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, and other dignitaries and people from all walks of life, diplomatic corps, and representatives of Chinese enterprises, institutions and overseas Chinese in Liberia.

In his speech, Ambassador Yin Chengwu reviewed the development achievements of Chinese Modernization and China-Liberia relations in 2024 and introduced Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Africa to implement the outcomes of the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He expressed China's willingness to work with Liberia to actively implement the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the FOCAC Summit, continuously lift the China-Liberia strategic partnership to new levels.

On behalf of Liberia,Hon. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence and Minister Grigsby extended new year wishes to the Chinese government and people, spoke highly of China's development achievements, thanked China for its support for Liberia's ARREST Agenda, and said they would continue to promote friendly cooperation between Liberia and China.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the guests toasted to the Chinese New Year. Chinese and Liberian songs, Pipa and martial arts performances and other programs won rounds of applause.
