Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing Attends the Opening Ceremony of “China-ASEAN Relations in Global Transformations: Progress, Opportunities, Challenges” International Conference

On November 26 , The "China-ASEAN Relations in Global Transformations: Progress, Opportunities, Challenges" International Conference, organised by Universiti Malaya's Institute of China Studies (ICS) and China Foreign Affairs University, has convened in Kuala Lumpur.

Present to speak at the opening ceremony were H.E. Ambassador Ouyang Yujing and President of the Senate (Dewan Negara) of Malaysia YB Senator Dato’Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basa. Keynote speakers include Former Foreign Minister of Indonesia Dr. Hassan Wirajuda and Former Ambassador of China to the United States Cui Tiankai, with more than a hundred participating scholars from various countries in attendance.

In their speeches, Ambassador Ouyang and Senator Dato’Awang Bemee commended the leapfrog development of China-ASEAN relations and their role as an important pillar of regional stability. The two sides stand ready to further consolidate the foundation of mutual trust, deepen the alignment of development strategies, and jointly build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful, and amicable home.

In their keynotes, Dr. Hassan Wirajuda and Cui Tiankai called on China and ASEAN to cooperate in addressing global challenges, uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, promote Asian values, and jointly build a new regional order with respect, equality, and a shared future.
