With the deepening of China's reform and opening up to the outside world, increasingly more foreign media organizations have set up permanent news bureaus in China and sent correspondents to work in this country. Up to July 2005, there are altogether 245 media organizations and 425 correspondents from 44 countries operating and working in China.

In order to better facilitate the foreign correspondent's work and daily life in China, International Press Center (IPC) has revised the Handbook for Foreign Journalists in China published in 2001 and republishes it.

The handbook covers various aspects of foreign journalists working and living in China, including applying for a Press Card and a Foreigner Residence Permit, applying for news coverage and interviews, hiring a Chinese secretary, renting or buying an office or a house and paying taxes. We believe the handbook will be very helpful for your work and life in China.
