2015/03/02

Q: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-Fascist War. What commemorative activities will be held on this occasion?

A: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is an important part of the World Anti-Fascist War. China is a main theater of the World Anti-Fascist War in the east. The war in China broke out the earliest and lasted for the longest. The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression consolidated the Allies' confidence to fight against fascism and contributed to the formation of a united front against fascism, for which the Chinese nation had sacrificed enormously.

The Chinese government has a tradition of commemorating each quinquennial and decennial anniversary. In accordance with the common practice and in reference to routines of other countries, we will hold grand commemorations in Beijing this year which include commemoration meeting, military parade, reception and artistic performance. President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders will attend these activities. The Chinese side will also invite leaders from major belligerent states in the Second World War, Asian countries as well as countries in other regions, international organizations such as the United Nations and foreign friends who contributed to the victory of China's war of resistance or their family members to these events.

The Chinese government holds the grand commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-Fascist War, in a bid to memorize the history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace and open up to the future. Through hosting such activities, we hope that every human being with a kind heart can awake to the aspiration and commitment of peace, prevent the historical tragedy from happening again, jointly defend the victory of the Second World War and explore better prospects for the humankind.
