The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Invites Foreign Diplomatic Envoys to Visit the Exhibition - Fast Progress of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Ningxia and Tibet

On September 8, 2009, over 120 diplomatic envoys, representatives of international organizations and high-level diplomats from more than 110 diplomatic missions in China were invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend the exhibition showing the great accomplishments of China's 5 ethnic autonomous regions – Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Ningxia and Tibet at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing.

The diplomatic envoys viewed the photographs, videos, books, and material objects on display and commented that the exhibition vividly displayed the tremendous achievements of the autonomous regions in a wide range of areas and demonstrated the unique advantage and remarkable vitality of China's ethnic regional autonomy system. They also said that the exhibition increased their understanding and knowledge of China's ethnic regional autonomy system and the historical and present situation of the autonomous regions. Having visited the photo exhibition showing how the riot on July 5 in Urumqi was ended, they said that the riot and violent criminal behaviors should be condemned. The Chinese government adopted legitimate measures to end the incident swiftly. The life safety of the people was protected. They believed that Xinjiang will remain stable and prosperous.

Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun and the heads of related departments also attended the exhibition and exchanged views with the foreign diplomatic envoys.
