Li Keqiang Meets with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan

On the afternoon of December 1, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan at the Radisson Blu Resort and Congress Centre in Sochi.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Afghanistan are traditional friendly neighboring countries, with bilateral relations being continuously and steadily pushed forward. China supports the efforts of the national unity government of Afghanistan in safeguarding national security and stability, and a broad and inclusive political reconciliation process led and owned by the Afghan people, and is ready to consolidate good-neighborly and friendly relations, enhance political mutual trust with Afghanistan, and play a positive and constructive role in the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan, so as to assist the country in realizing domestic political stability and economic development at an early date.

Li Keqiang pointed out that expanding economic and trade, as well as other practical cooperation between China and Afghanistan cannot be done without a safe and stable external environment. China is willing to work with Afghanistan and Pakistan to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, and make joint efforts to strive for a stable and safe regional environmental construction, in a bid to promote the realization of long-term stability and peace in the region at an early date.

Abdullah Abdullah expressed that China is a good neighbor of Afghanistan. The development of bilateral friendly cooperative relations conforms to the common interests of the two countries. Afghanistan appreciates China's efforts in boosting the reconciliation process in Afghanistan, and its positive role in facilitating the country's economic reconstruction, capacity building and livelihood improvement, as well as its assistance on multilateral platforms, and stands ready to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to uplift bilateral relations to a new height.
