On the morning of November 27, 2020, the 17th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) opened in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi attended the opening ceremony, visited the exhibition halls and met with envoys from ASEAN countries and Pakistan.

Yang Jiechi said that President Xi Jinping expressed China's willingness to work with ASEAN countries for a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future in his opening speech via video link. His important remarks will definitely have important and far-reaching implications for China-ASEAN cooperation. We will implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China, ASEAN countries and Pakistan, further deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and push forward greater progress in the relations between China and ASEAN countries, and between China and Pakistan.

Yang Jiechi pointed out that the CAEXPO and CABIS coincide with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the China-ASEAN Year of Digital Economy Cooperation. It is also an important international exhibition co-hosted by China and ASEAN countries when jointly fighting against COVID-19. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, over 1,600 enterprises at home and abroad attended the physical exhibition this year, and many foreign businessmen participated in the "Cloud CAEXPO". This has once again proved unequivocally that the economic and trade cooperation between China and its neighboring countries cannot be impeded by the pandemic and there are broad prospects and huge potential for the CAEXPO.

Yang Jiechi said that since the beginning of this year, in face of complicated situations, China, ASEAN countries, Pakistan and other countries of the region have supported each other and achieved milestone results in the pandemic prevention and control, continued mutually beneficial cooperation to promote the recovery and development of regional economy and upheld multilateralism to safeguard regional peace and stability. China will soon complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and embark on a journey to fully build a modern socialist country. We will firmly apply the new concept for development and actively foster a new development paradigm. China will continue to facilitate high-quality "Belt and Road" cooperation with neighboring countries, and build the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor for integrated development. China is resolutely determined to carry out high-level opening up and expand win-win cooperation with all countries.
