2021-02-02 22:31

On February 2, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with envoys to China from Eurasian countries in Beijing Friendship Hotel.

Wang Yi said that the Chinese Lunar Year of the Rat has come to its end. It has been a rather tough year full of risks and challenges. There are three words to represent China's relations with Eurasian countries. The first word is "friendship". We are strategic partners who take the relations with each other as a priority in our external relations. We have always cherished our traditional friendship through thick and thin and elevated it to a new level by withstanding the test of the pandemic. The second one is "righteousness". In face of the international environment full of uncertainties, we firmly supported each other and jointly opposed external interference and fought against COVID-19 and all kinds of "political viruses" by working together in international and regional arenas to bring more positive energy to this turbulent world. The third one is "cooperation". We overcame the difficulties brought by the pandemic and jointly built the Belt and Road. The shipping volume of the China-Europe Railway Express increased by over 50 percent last year, which makes it the lifeline of battling the pandemic and a real "steel camel fleet".

Wang Yi said that under the intertwined influence of the changes unseen in a hundred years and the once-in-a-century pandemic, the world has entered a period of turbulence and change. It is imperative for countries to firmly support each other in following the development path suited to their national conditions, and safeguarding their sovereignty, security and development interests. It is also imperative for them to insist on win-win cooperation. China is focusing on building the new development paradigm, and its door of opening-up will only be wider. China will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and embrace a new development phase. China is willing to share the opportunities in the Chinese market with other countries to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. We need to jointly build the Belt and Road with high quality, build a healthy, digital and green silk road, and achieve common prosperity by the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.

Wang Yi extended cordial New Year greetings to all the envoys and said that the pandemic will finally be defeated, and our solidarity and friendship will exist forever. The next year is the Chinese Lunar Year of the Ox. He wishes all the envoys good health, a thriving future of their countries and robust bilateral cooperation.

On behalf of the envoys from Eurasian countries, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov warmly congratulated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and wished China successful accomplishment of its first Centenary Goal in the new year and more progress at the beginning of its 14th Five-year Plan period. Andrey Denisov said that despite the difficulties in the past year, China and Eurasian Countries shared weal and woe and helped each other. In face of the pandemic, both sides maintained a sound momentum of growth in economic and trade cooperation. The world's economic recovery largely hinges on China's economic development. Countries in the Eurasian region are willing to work with China to promote cooperation and development to a new level.
