Premier Li Keqiang Arrives in Phnom Penh to Attend Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation and Pay Official Visit to Cambodia

On the evening of November 8, 2022 local time, at the invitation of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport on a special plane to attend Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation and pay an official visit to Cambodia. Premier Li Keqiang's wife Cheng Hong, State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie, and other members of his entourage arrived on the same plane.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong and other senior Cambodian government officials greeted the delegation at the airport. The honor guards lined up on both sides of a red carpet to salute. Cambodian youth presented flowers to Premier Li Keqiang and his wife Cheng Hong. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian and Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Deng Xijun were also at the airport to greet the delegation.

Premier Li Keqiang said that China and ASEAN are comprehensive strategic partners and each other's largest trading partner. The international and regional situations are undergoing complex and profound changes, and uncertainties and instabilities are on the rise, posing unprecedented challenges to global development. China hopes that Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation will focus on development and cooperation, uphold multilateralism, free trade, openness and cooperation as well as mutual benefit, jointly preserve secure and smooth global industrial and supply chains, join hands to address global challenges, and inject new impetus into promoting regional economic integration as well as safeguarding peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and beyond.

Premier Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Cambodia, as close neighbors with profound traditional friendship, have continuously made headway in mutually beneficial cooperation. Through this visit, China hopes to renew its solidarity and friendship with Cambodia, chart together the way forward for bilateral cooperation, and work for more outcomes in building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future to deliver more benefits to the two countries and peoples.

On the sidelines of the Leaders' Meeting on East Asia Cooperation, Premier Li Keqiang will attend the 25th China-ASEAN Summit, the 25th ASEAN Plus China, Japan and the Republic of Korea Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit.

During his stay in Cambodia, Premier Li Keqiang will meet with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen, jointly witness the signing of bilateral cooperation documents, and attend events marking the inauguration of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway and the handover of China-aided restoration project of the Ta Keo Temple in Angkor in Cambodia.
