The two sides need to make good preparations for high-level exchanges this year, to inject strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations. China and the Netherlands have made significant progress in economic and trade cooperation and become important partners, thanks to the two sides’ commitment to the principle of mutual benefit. China appreciates the Dutch side for saying on many occasions that it does not agree with decoupling and severing supply chains, and stands ready to work with China to maintain the stability of the global industrial and supply chains and safeguard the common interests of the two countries and their companies. China attaches great importance to the Netherlands’ co-hosting with Tajikistan of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference. China will send a high-level representative to the conference and co-host with the EU an interactive dialogue on Water for Sustainable Development.

Hoekstra said practical cooperation between the Netherlands and China has achieved remarkable results on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, which goes beyond the relationship of buyer and seller. The Dutch side looks forward to maintaining close high-level exchanges and constructive dialogue with China and will continue to make independent judgments on specific projects based on its own interests. The Dutch side follows closely the developments of the situation in Ukraine, agrees that diplomatic efforts should be stepped up, and hopes that China will play a key role in preventing the escalation of the crisis.

Qin Gang stressed that China is not a party to the Ukraine Crisis, does not want to see the spread of fighting in Europe and has called for a political settlement of the crisis since day one of the conflict. China’s position boils down to one point: promoting peace talks. China will continue to stand on the side of peace, fairness and justice.
