President Vladimir Putin of Russia Meets with Li Yuanchao

On May 23 local time, Presid ent Vladimir Putin of Russia met with Vice President Li Yuanchao of China, who was attending the 18th St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Putin asked Li Yuanchao to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping. He expressed that his recent visit to China and attendance at the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) achieved a complete success. Russia and China signed the cooperative documents which are unprecedented internationally in terms of quantity and quality, pushing forward the bilateral cooperation in all fields to a higher level and Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to a new development stage. He believed that both sides would effectively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state at their meeting in Shanghai and promote the bilateral cooperation in all fields for new breakthroughs.

Li Yuanchao said that Chinese and Russian Presidents held a successful meeting in Shanghai. It injected new impetus into the in-depth development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. China is willing to join efforts with Russia to implement the important cooperative consensus reached by the two heads of state, to intensify the political support to each other, to deepen all-round cooperation of mutual benefit, to enhance the coordination and cooperation in international affairs, to unswervingly and effectively maintain and develop China-Russia relations, making contributions to promoting well-being of the two peoples and peace and development of the world.

Li Yuanchao delivered a speech at the Forum the same day. He said that all countries should join hands coping with changes and challenges to achieve common development, and should adhere to enhancing trust through opening up and promoting opening up through trust, to promoting innovation through reform and pushing reform through innovation, to seeking win-win results through cooperation and pushing for cooperation through win-win results, and to ensuring development through peace and promoting peace through development. China will hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and win-win results, working with all countries, to jointly create a new future for the world's economic prosperity and development.
