Wang Yang Holds Talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov of Kazakhstan

On April 21, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov of Kazakhstan in Astana.

Wang Yi congratulated Kairat Abdrakhmanov on taking up the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and expressed that in recent years, with the personal care and direct promotion of the leaders of both countries, China-Kazakhstan relations have achieved leapfrog development. The two sides have witnessed close high-level exchanges, firmer political mutual trust, constantly deepened cooperation in various fields, closer integrated interests, efficient cooperation in security, sound coordination and collaboration in international and regional affairs, and firm mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests, which make China and Kazakhstan a community of shared destiny and shared interests, featuring sincere mutual trust, win-win cooperation and sharing together danger and safety.

Wang Yi pointed out that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kazakhstan, which is an important year that links the past and the future for bilateral relations. The two sides should maintain close communication to ensure President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) and other high-level exchanges a great success. The strategic docking of the two sides has reached extensive consensus and entered into a new stage of in-depth integration and mutual improvement. Cooperation in traditional fields such as economy, trade, energy, infrastructure construction, agriculture, and transportation continues to be deepened and new cooperation in fields as innovation, technology, cross-border logistics and e-commerce is quietly emerging. The two sides should take this opportunity to enlarge and solidify cooperation in various fields.

Wang Yi said that as comprehensive strategic partners, China and Kazakhstan have kept close coordination and cooperation under multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia and the UN Security Council, which plays an important role in maintaining mutual interests of both sides and regional peace and stability.

Kairat Abdrakhmanov stated that since Kazakhstan and China established diplomatic relations 25 years ago, bilateral relations have flourished. The two heads of state have provided important guidance to this end. President Nursultan Nazarbayev is glad to visit China at invitation for the BRF and the meeting with President Xi Jinping. Kazakhstan stands ready to, together with China, comprehensively promote strategic docking, carry out production capacity cooperation, and deepen exchanges in parliaments, business communities and people-to-people and cultural exchanges between both countries, so as to push bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination towards a higher level.

Both sides also exchanged views on other bilateral, international and regional topics of common interests.
