Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev of Kyrgyzstan

On April 25, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev of Kyrgyzstan.

Wang Yi expressed that last year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan. Bilateral strategic partnership has continuously moved towards higher levels and wider areas with richer connotation and firmer foundation. China has always respected Kyrgyzstan's choice of development path that suits its national conditions and firmly supported the new Kyrgyz government in leading its people to speed up national development and construction. China stands ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to enhance the alignment of development strategies, and expand cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, investment, energy, locality, people-to-people and cultural engagement and connectivity under the "Belt and Road" framework, so as to promote bilateral relations to new highs. China supports Kyrgyzstan in taking over the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) after the Qingdao Summit, and is willing to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan to well host the summit in 2019.

Erlan Abdyldaev expressed that Kyrgyzstan admires China's development achievements, and China's development has exerted influence on the world. Kyrgyzstan hopes to deepen bilateral strategic partnership, and is satisfied with the positive progress the two sides have achieved from the co-construction of the "Belt and Road". The new Kyrgyz government is willing to, together with China, deepen cooperation in such areas as politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural engagement and security and jointly fight against the "three forces" in a bid to benefit the two peoples and safeguard regional security. Kyrgyzstan will fully cooperate with China to ensure a complete success of the SCO Qingdao Summit.
