President Xi Jinping Sends Message of Sympathy to President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea

President Xi Jinping sent a message to President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (ROK), conveying the sympathies of the Chinese government and people to the ROK government and people over the COVID-19 outbreak.

Xi stressed that China and the ROK are friendly neighbors who help each other in times of difficulty. The ROK government and people from all sectors have extended sympathies and provided substantial assistance to China's epidemic response, with President Moon emphasizing in particular that China's difficulties are the ROK's difficulties. Confronted by an epidemic that knows no borders, countries around the world stand to win or lose as a community with a shared future. The Chinese government and people feel keenly for the ROK in the ongoing outbreak and hardship. China will continue to do what it can to help and support the ROK's epidemic response, and will work with the ROK to defeat the epidemic as soon as possible and protect the lives, safety and health of people in both countries and beyond.

Xi reaffirmed his commitment to growing bilateral ties and expressed readiness to work with President Moon to take the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership to a new level for the benefit of the two countries and the two peoples.
