2014/03/22

Q: The relevant Chinese department announced their discovery of suspected floating object on the waters to the southwest of Perth, Australia after analyzing the image data collected by the satellite. What actions will China take in response?

A: China has provided the Malaysian side and the Australian side with the information as soon as it got it. We hope that the data will be helpful to the search operation. It is yet to be analyzed and corroborated whether or not the floating object is related to the missing aircraft. China's search and rescue resources both at sea and in the air have set off to the southern Indian Ocean for the search operation.

China will carry forward its close cooperation and information-sharing with all parties and do all that we can to advance the search operation.
