Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Secretary-General Nabil El Araby of the League of Arab States

On May 11, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Secretary-General Nabil El Araby of the League of Arab States (LAS) before attending the 7th Ministerial Meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) in Doha.

Wang Yi expressed that President Xi Jinping visited the headquarters of the LAS early this year, proposing China and the Arab states to co-build the Belt and Road. The ministerial meeting of the CASCF to be held tomorrow will have in-depth discussion on how to effectively implement the major policies and measures of China-Arab cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the forum will achieve positive results, and send out explicit message that China and Arab states will pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and seek common development. China stands ready to become the most reliable and optimal cooperative partner of Arab states in promoting industrialization process, and help Arab states improve self-development ability in the process of co-building the Belt and Road through infrastructure and production capacity cooperation, so as to explore a new future of China-Arab relations. China has no private interests in the Middle East issue, and is willing to continue to uphold an objective and fair stance, and make joint efforts with the LAS and all countries in the region to play a constructive role in advancing the political settlement of hotspot issues in the Middle East.

Nabil El Araby expressed that with historic significance, President Xi Jinping's visit to the LAS highlights a sound and profound Arab-China relationship. China is the only major country who always supports the just cause of the Arab nation, and gives precious support to Arab states at all crucial moments, while providing selfless assistance to the development of Arab states. The CASCF is the most successful forum established by Arab states and other countries. The Arab side pays high attention to the construction of the forum, and stands ready to conduct close cooperation with China, so as to ensure the forum a success. All Arab states are hoping to share the development experience of China, and are willing to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with China, especially in co-building the Belt and Road. The Arab side thanks China for its adherence to the fair stance on and important role in hotspot issues in the Middle East, and looks forward to continuously getting China's support.
