2016/05/12

On May 12, 2016 local time, after attending the 7th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) in Doha, Secretary-General Nabil El Araby of the League of Arab States (LAS), Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar met the press together.

Nabil El Araby expressed that fruitful results have been achieved since the establishment of the CASCF. The complete success of the meeting this time has reflected the profound relations between Arab states and China and the strong desires for common development of both Arab states and China. China is a true strategic partner and friend of Arab countries. This January, during President Xi Jinping's successful and historic visits to Arab states and the LAS headquarters, he proposed to jointly build the Belt and Road, which is actively echoed by the Arab side and gained active support and participation of Arab states. China has made great development achievements and accumulated a great deal of successful experience and advanced technologies, which can assist the development of Arab countries. The Arab side is willing to step up cooperation with China in all areas during the process of jointly building the Belt and Road.

Nabil El Araby noted that Arab states support China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and support China's stance on relevant issues regarding the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea. The Doha Declaration adopted by the meeting today has made specific statement on this regard. The Arab side and China will continue to support each other on issues related to respective core interest.
