On June 27, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi answered questions over the Korean Peninsula situation while attending the luncheon of the Second World Peace Forum. He said that recently there have been signs of relaxation on the Korean Peninsula. The DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) side has once again agreed to move towards the goal of denuclearization and expressed its willingness to conduct various kinds of dialogues including the Six-Party Talks. Differing interpretations from different countries notwithstanding, this is a change in the positive direction. It is also the result of common efforts. China has played its role in this process and undertaken its due responsibilities.

Wang Yi said that the Six-Party Talks is the common cause of the six parties concerned, which share the aim of pushing DPRK to abandon its nuclear programs, dealing with the concerns of each party in a balanced manner and achieving denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. Now is the time to consider joining efforts and resuming the Six-Party Talks. Hope that all the six parties will take constructive actions, move towards the same goal, continuously create conditions, and strive for an early resumption of talks instead of remaining an on-looker.

Wang Yi stressed that China stands firm on the goal of promoting and realizing denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, which is not only in China's interest but also serves the common interests of all parties concerned including DPRK and ROK. Only when this goal is realized can lasting peace and stability be maintained on the Peninsula. We are ready to work together with all parties concerned and continue to make unremitting efforts for this goal.
