Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks
2019/11/09

Reporter: A report from the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of UK House of Commons claims of Chinese interference in academic freedom in UK universities. Would you like to respond?

Spokesperson: We live in an era of globalization where all countries are interdependent and our interests are inextricably intertwined. Shutting the door to normal exchanges would only mean isolation from the world.

Education exchange has played a positive role in China-UK relations and friendship. An important prerequisite for exchange and cooperation is mutual respect and finding common ground. This is true in China, in the UK and anywhere else in the world.

China is always committed to developing friendly relations and seeking win-win outcomes with other countries based on the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.China is always opposed to foreign interference and never interferes in others’ internal affairs. Certain China watchers should take off their “tinted glasses” and view the development of China in an objective way.
