Xi Jinping Meets with President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana

On December 3 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Johannesburg with President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.

Xi Jinping noted that China and Ghana have achieved fruitful results in all fields of cooperation since they established diplomatic relations 55 years ago. China is willing to, together with Ghana, translate the advantages of traditional friendship into development impetus for cooperation so as to better benefit the two peoples. Both sides should deepen strategic mutual trust, continue firmly supporting each other, safeguard common interests and expand mutually beneficial cooperation. China supports more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Ghana, and will actively participate in infrastructure construction and operation including electric power, telecommunication, ports and roads, expand bilateral exchanges in aviation, mineral resources, agriculture and fishery, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges to consolidate the foundation for bilateral friendship and boost cooperation in security.

John Dramani Mahama expressed that China always attaches importance to Africa, maintains solidarity and cooperation with African countries, and actively supports developing countries in international affairs. Ghana is grateful to China for its long-term help and assistance and stands ready to expand cooperation with China in infrastructure construction and other areas.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
