Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Foreign Minister of the DPRK Pak Myong Ho

On December 18, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Pak Myong Ho who is in China to hold diplomatic consultations between China and the DPRK.

Wang Yi said that the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK, forged and fostered personally by the elder generations of leaders of the two parties and the two countries, is a valuable asset for both sides. In recent years, the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK has been further developed in the new era under the strategic guidance and personal care of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries. Facing the international situation fraught with changes and turbulence, China and the DPRK always firmly support and trust each other, demonstrating the strategic significance of friendly cooperation between China and the DPRK. China always views its relations with the DPRK from a strategic and long-term perspective, and China stands ready to work with the DPRK to strengthen communication and coordination, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, host a series of commemorative activities for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year, and push forward the sustained and steady development of China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations.

Pak Myong Ho said that it is the unswerving position of the party and government of the DPRK to continuously deepen and develop DPRK-China relations in accordance with the noble will of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries and the requirements of the new era. The DPRK is ready to work with China to take the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to consolidate the brotherly friendship between the DPRK and China, and push forward the constant development of bilateral relations. The DPRK will continue to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to safeguard common interests and regional peace and stability.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest and concern.
