Chinese Consul-General in Brisbane Dr RUAN Zongze Calls on the Premier of Queensland Hon. Annastacia Palaszczuk

On August 5th, Consul-General Dr RUAN Zongze paid a courtesy call to the Premier of Queensland Hon. Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Dr Ruan said, in recent years, China-Queensland cooperation has been enhanced with fruitful achievements made in areas including economics and trade, education, science and technology, culture and tourism. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Australia diplomatic ties. We shall take the opportunity to draw wisdom from the past and look into the future. Many overseas Chinese in Queensland play an important bridging role in China-Queensland friendly relations. They firmly support and are benefited from China-Australia friendship. Chinese Consulate-General wishes to promote China-Australia, China-Queensland relations along with all stakeholders in Queensland.

Dr Ruan also introduced the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China’s economic development, poverty alleviation achievements, opening-up policy and epidemic prevention and control. He reiterated China’s stance on Pelosi’s provocative visit to China’s Taiwan region.

Premier warmly welcomed Dr Ruan to take his post. She acknowledged the Chinese community’s contributions to the Queensland multiculturalism and said, Queensland state government attaches great significance to promote cooperation with China. She is impressed by China’s socio-economic development during my several visits to China and look forward to a better Australia-China relationship. She wishes to take the opportunity of 50th anniversary of Australia-China diplomatic ties as a new start to bring the Queensland-China cooperation to a higher level.

Others at the meeting include Ms Filly Morgan who is the Deputy Director‑General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Mr Tim Linley who is the Principal Policy Advisor in Queensland Government, Consul Mr WANG Lin and Vice Consul Mr QIAO Peigen from the Consulate-General.
