The 2024 New Year Reception for Foreign Journalists in China is Held in Beijing

On the evening of February 2, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality jointly hosted the 2024 New Year Reception for Foreign Journalists in China at the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing. Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, and Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Director-General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee Mo Gaoyi were present.

In her speech, Hua Chunying said that the year 2023 has seen major and far-reaching changes in international relations and solid progress in Chinese modernization. The year has also been a year of exploration and harvest for China's diplomacy. China's economy, with a new impetus for innovation and vitality for development, continues to serve as an anchor and accelerator for global recovery. China's diplomatic service has upheld fundamental principles and broken new ground, and forged ahead, jointly taking solid strides in building a community with a shared future for mankind. The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics has entered a new stage of greater achievements. Hua Chunying expressed the hope that foreign journalists will cover China in an objective and fair manner, help the world better understand a real China in a multi-dimensional and comprehensive fashion, see the myriad landscapes of China in the new era, and make positive efforts to enhance mutual understanding between China and the world and promote world peace and development.

Mo Gaoyi focused on Beijing's efforts to promote the high-quality development of the capital in the new era, especially the development of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, and expressed willingness to continue to provide more convenience for the work of foreign journalists.

Nearly 600 people attended the reception, including foreign journalists and their families, diplomats to China, responsible officials of some central ministries and commissions and relevant departments of Beijing, and heads of major domestic media. Before the reception, the foreign journalists visited the Beijing City Library and the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing.
