On February 5, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong attended a New Year exhibition tour for diplomatic envoys from neighboring countries to China and visited the "Arts and Civilizations - Echoes of Camel Bells along the Silk Roads" held by the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum with diplomatic envoys from various countries to China, among others.

In his speech, Sun Weidong said that the ancient Silk Road has endured for thousands of years due to its role in pioneering connectivity and facilitating trade exchanges as well as fostering the convergence of interests. It has promoted the exchange of culture, art, philosophical concepts, customs, and etiquette among countries and further deepened the integration of ideas. The essence and true meaning of the Silk Road lie in the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit. President Xi Jinping proposed the grand initiative of Belt and Road cooperation, creating a new pattern of "physical connectivity", "institutional connectivity" and "people-to-people connectivity". The Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs identified the building of a community with a shared future for mankind as the noble goal pursued by China in conducting major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for the new era. China will continue to act upon the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and deepen friendship, mutual trust and integration of interests with neighboring countries. China is ready to work with neighboring countries to uphold the five principles of peaceful coexistence, carry forward Asian values, and build an Asian community with a shared future.

Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Md. Jashim Uddin delivered a speech, saying that China has always been a peace-loving country. The Silk Road embodies the principles of connectivity, win-win cooperation and mutual learning among civilizations, rather than foreign aggression and conquest. He expressed the hope that Asian countries will continue to deepen friendly cooperation and achieve common prosperity on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Participants in the event said that the exhibition tour promoted their understanding of Chinese history, culture and art, and they also had a deeper understanding of the close friendship, geographical proximity and cultural affinity with China.
