Director-General of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Bai Tian Attends the Eighth Meeting of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group

On June 14, 2023, Director-General of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Bai Tian led a delegation to attend the eighth meeting of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group held in South Africa, and representatives from relevant Chinese departments were present. Representatives of BRICS foreign ministries and relevant counter-terrorism departments attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Bai Tian, as the rotating chairman of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group in 2022, reviewed the work and outcomes of the working group in the previous year, and on behalf of China, expounded on China's views on the current international and regional counter-terrorism situation, and China's counter-terrorism concerns and measures, put forward China’s suggestions on strengthening BRICS counter-terrorism cooperation, and had an in-depth exchange of views with other BRICS parties on the above issues.

Before that, China also convened as the lead country the de-radicalization sub-working group meeting of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group.
