On February 22，Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Amb. Liu Xiaoming spoke with the US State Department’s Special Representative for DPRK Policy Amb. Sung Kim.

Ambassador Liu said that, under current situation, relevant parties should be cautious in words and actions, avoid stimulating each other, so as to prevent escalation of tension on the Korean Peninsula. The US should follow the action-for-action approach and the phased and synchronized principle, take concrete actions in responding to the denuclearization measures taken by the DPRK, and address the DPRK’s legitimate and reasonable concerns with greater attention, so as to create conditions for restarting the dialogue.

Ambassador Kim said that the US agree with the action-for-action approach and the phased and synchronized principle, and hope to have contact and dialogue with the DPRK to address the latter’s concerns. The US is willing to enhance communication and consultation with China on Korean Peninsula issues.
