Ambassador for China-Arab States Cooperation Forum Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Li Chen Attends the Consultation on the Libya Issue in Russia

On September 29, 2022, Ambassador for China-Arab States Cooperation Forum Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Li Chen attended upon invitation the consultation on the Libya issue in Moscow, the capital of Russia, and delivered remarks. The consultation was chaired by Deputy Minister Bogdanov Mikhail Leonidovich of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and attended by representatives of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.

Ambassador Li Chen said that the Chinese side has all along held an objective and just position on the Libya issue, upholding the principle of non-interference in others’ internal affairs, respecting the will and choice of the Libyan people, and supporting the Libyan people in exploring a development path suited to their national conditions. China stands ready to work with the international community to practice true multilateralism, and seek an effective political solution to the Libya issue.

The participating parties had an in-depth exchange of views on the Libya issue, reiterating their respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Libya, and calling for continued effort to advance the UN-led political transition process in Libya to contribute to the early realization of peace and stability in Libya.

Before the meeting, Ambassador Li Chen met with the responsible official of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and had an exchange of views on the Libya issue and other issues of mutual interest.
