Li Yaowen

Mr. Li Yaowen, born inRongchengCityofShandongProvincein 1918, served as vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic ofChinafrom July 1971 to April 1972.

He had long been engaged in political work of the army, and was conferred with the rank of major general in 1995.He was Chinese ambassador toTanzaniaand concurrently toMadagascarfrom April 1972 to January 1976.After being transferred to the PLA in 1976, he assumed the post of political commissar of the Commission of Science for National Defense, political commissar of the PLA Navy.

He was alternate member of the 11thCPC Central Committee and member of the 12thCentral Committee, then was elected to be member of the CPC Central Advisory Commission on the 13thNational Conference of the Communist Party of China.He was conferred with the rank of Navy Admiral in 1988.
