Li Keqiang Holds Telephone Talks at Request with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany

On the afternoon of November 7, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang held telephone talks at request with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany.

Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke highly of new progress achieved from China-Germany relations and cooperation in last year. Li Keqiang expressed that this year falls on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. President Xi Jinping successfully visited Germany and attended the G20 Hamburg Summit, and the annual meeting between Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel also yielded fruitful results. Both countries maintain sound communication and coordination on major international and regional issues. China is willing to, together with Germany, cement high-level exchanges, well host the new round of China-Germany inter-governmental consultation and enhance practical plan, so as to promote bilateral cooperation to a deeper level, broader area and higher standard.

Li Keqiang stressed that China welcomes enterprises from all countries including Germany to expand investment in China and carry out cooperation in technology and knowledge. China is ready to create a business environment that treats Chinese and foreign enterprises equally so that they can compete fairly, and to create the conditions for them to expand their business based on market-oriented principles, and conduct mutually-beneficial cooperation.

Angela Merkel expressed that both Germany and China are committed to promoting the development of bilateral relations. Germany stands ready to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance communication and coordination, launch the preparatory work for the new round of the inter-governmental consultation at an early date and deepen economic and trade cooperation with China, in a bid to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
