Wang Yi Meets with Presidential Advisor of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo

On July 11, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met in Beijing with Presidential Advisor of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo.

Wang Yi welcomed Laureano Ortega Murillo to attend the First High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in China, saying that the conference is an important measure of China to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) put forth by President Xi Jinping. In the process of advancing the GDI, China and Nicaragua can become the closest partners of cooperation and play an important role in the development of Nicaragua and the improvement of people's livelihood.

Wang Yi said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua, cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes. China has always viewed China-Nicaragua relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, regards Nicaragua as a trustworthy partner, and will firmly support Nicaragua in safeguarding its independence and national dignity, and firmly support Nicaragua in independently choosing a development path suited to its national conditions. China stands ready to work with Nicaragua to elevate the strategic level of bilateral relations, further unleash the dividends of resuming diplomatic relations, advance the implementation of the free trade agreement, strengthen coordination in multilateral fields, and categorically oppose all forms of hegemonism and power politics.

Laureano Ortega Murillo extended congratulations on the success of the First High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, saying that Nicaragua fully recognizes and highly supports a series of important initiatives bearing on the future of humanity put forth by President Xi Jinping, including the GDI. The concept of a human community with a shared future has brought hope to the world and offered a path to all other countries in exploring their own independent development. China and Nicaragua have a brotherly friendship and are strategic partners. Nicaragua firmly supports China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, abides by the one-China principle, and firmly opposes a small number of countries' blocking and containing China. Nicaragua will always stand together with China.
