On August 17, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong met with Bruneian Ambassador to China Pehin Dato Haji Abdu'r Rahmani bin Dato Haji Basir. The two sides had an exchange of views on bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

Nong Rong said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, China-Brunei relations have enjoyed strong momentum of development, and the Belt and Road cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Brunei. China is ready to work with Brunei to follow through on the important common understandings between the two heads of state and constantly elevate bilateral relations to a new height.

Pehin Dato Haji Abdu'r Rahmani bin Dato Haji Basir said that both leaders and people of the two countries boast a profound friendship. Brunei attaches great importance to its relations with China and stands ready to work with China to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and strive for greater development of bilateral relations.
