Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong Visits Indonesia

From July 15 to 18, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong visited Indonesia. During his visit, Nong Rong and Director General for Asia-Pacific and African Affairs of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani co-chaired the 14th China-Indonesia diplomatic consultation. Ambassador of China to Indonesia Lu Kang attended relevant events.

Nong Rong said that this year is the first year of jointly establishing a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia, the 10th anniversary of establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, and also the 10th anniversary of building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future put forth by President Xi Jinping, and the 20th anniversary of China's accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia. China is ready to work with Indonesia to follow through on the common understandings reached by the two heads of state, enhance high-level exchanges, consolidate strategic mutual trust, promote bilateral practical cooperation and cultural and people-to-people exchanges in an in-depth and substantial manner, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and increase friendship between the two peoples.

Nong Rong congratulated Indonesia on successfully hosting ASEAN-Plus Foreign Ministers' Meetings, and said that China will continue to fully support Indonesia in playing a positive role as the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN to push for positive outcomes of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation in September. China is ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with Indonesia on regional and international occasions, and firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests.

Indonesia said that it attaches great importance to its relations with China, and stands ready to work with China to strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote the development of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership. Indonesia is firmly committed to the one-China principle, and believes that Taiwan is an unalienable part of China's territory. Indonesia thanks China for supporting Indonesia in assuming the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN, and stands ready to support the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and strengthen multilateral cooperation with China.

Nong Rong also inspected the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway and other key projects of Belt and Road cooperation between China and Indonesia.
