On October 20, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abd Kadir.

Zambry Abd Kadir congratulated China on the successful hosting of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), saying that the Belt and Road Initiative is conducive to promoting regional connectivity, consolidating international trade ties and bringing more opportunities for regional and world development. As one of the first countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative, Malaysia has always supported this important initiative and will continue to strengthen synergy and cooperation with China. Malaysia looks forward to working with China to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China next year and pushing for further development of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi appreciated Malaysia's contribution to the successful holding of the third BRF, saying that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is ready to work with Malaysia to carry out a series of friendly celebrations, deepen high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and deepen and substantiate the building of the China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

The two sides had an exchange of views on the Palestine-Israel conflict. Zambry Abd Kadir said that the Malaysian side appreciates China's efforts to promote a ceasefire and an end to the fighting, protect innocent civilians and promote dialogue and talks for peace, and supports China's position on ensuring the smooth arrival of humanitarian assistance, implementing the two-state solution as soon as possible and realizing enduring peace in the Middle East. Zambry Abd Kadir expressed the hope that China will play an important role in bringing the two sides to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

Wang Yi said, "We enjoy peace here today, but the world is not yet tranquil, nor is it fair, and there are still many innocent people in the shadow of death and suffering." On the Palestine-Israel conflict, China has always stood on the side of peace, international law and the legitimate aspirations of Arab and Islamic countries. China opposes all acts that attack and harm innocent civilians and violate international law. China supports the statement just issued by the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit on the situation in the Gaza Strip. China calls on all parties to put aside all geopolitical considerations in the face of war and peace, adhere to human conscience, form international consensus, cease hostilities as soon as possible, and prevent a larger humanitarian disaster.

Wang Yi pointed out that the root of the Palestine-Israel conflict lies in the constant occupation of Palestinian land and the long-term neglect of the Palestinian people's demands for statehood. The fundamental solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict is to implement the two-state solution and realize the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel. China supports the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation and looks forward to bringing the Palestinian question back to the track of political settlement and earnestly implementing the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on many occasions regarding this matter. China is ready to strengthen communication with Malaysia and all peace-loving countries, and continue to make efforts for peace in the Middle East.
