On November 10, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met with Chief Minister of Penang Chow Kon Yeow in the State of Penang, Malaysia.

Han Zheng said that Penang is an important node of the Strait of Malacca, with special significance in the history of exchanges between China and Malaysia, fully reflecting the friendship between the two countries. The current world industrial landscape is undergoing profound adjustment, and will bring new opportunities for China-Malaysia cooperation. China welcomes the State of Penang to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's provinces and municipalities, carry out high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expand cooperation in such fields as science and technology, agriculture, tourism and culture, give play to local features, realize complementarity of advantages, and take concrete measures to build a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, so as to make more positive contribution to promoting China-Malaysia friendship.

Chow Kon Yeow said that the State of Penang is an economic engine full of vitality in Malaysia, and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Penang to leverage the special geographical advantages of the State of Penang to boost the development of Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region at large.
