On July 31, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Decade of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor celebration event held in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an important flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since its launch in 2013, China and Pakistan have been advancing the development of CPEC under the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and have achieved a number of early harvests. This has added new impetus to the economic and social development of Pakistan and also laid a sound foundation for regional connectivity and integration. CPEC has been a vivid testament to the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan, and provided an important underpinning for building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

Xi Jinping emphasized that going forward, China will work with Pakistan to constantly improve overall planning and expand and deepen cooperation to make CPEC high-standard, sustainable and people-centered, and further build it into a demonstration project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. No matter how the international landscape may change, China will always stand firmly with Pakistan, working hand in hand and forging ahead together to carry forward the ironclad friendship, coordinate development and security, and pursue cooperation of higher standards, broader scope and greater depth, so as to take the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to new heights, and make greater contributions to peace and prosperity in the two countries and the broader region.
