On July 6, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with the Pakistani Parliamentary Delegation led by Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

Sun Weidong spoke highly of the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan and the fruitful results achieved by the two countries in jointly building the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said China is willing to work with Pakistan to deepen friendly exchanges between people from all walks of life in the two countries and strive for greater development of bilateral relations and practical cooperation, in a bid to benefit the two peoples, the region and the world.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that the friendship with China is the cross-party consensus of Pakistan. Pakistan firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests and appreciates China's following a path of peaceful development and opposition to the Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation. Pakistan looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China in various fields.
