On September 21, 2023 local time, Vice President Han Zheng met with Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Han Zheng said that China and Pakistan, linked by mountains and rivers and characterized by an ever-lasting friendship, are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. The leaders of the two countries have maintained close communication and reached many important common understandings on leading China-Pakistan relations and practical cooperation. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to deepen strategic mutual trust, carry forward traditional friendship, deepen Belt and Road cooperation, build a high-quality China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and speed up efforts to build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

Han Zheng pointed out that China appreciates Pakistan's zero-tolerance for terrorism, and hopes that Pakistan will strengthen its security guarantees to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan. The two sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation within such institutions as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, practice true multilateralism, safeguard the common interests of the two countries and other developing countries, and safeguard regional peace, security and development.

Noting that Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic cooperative partners and ironclad brothers, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said that Pakistan firmly supports a series of major visions and initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, abides by the one-China principle, and stands ready to work with China to continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and join hands to advance high-quality CPEC cooperation, so as to continuously inject new impetus into the development of bilateral relations.
