Xi Jinping Sends Message of Condolence to ROK President Yoon Suk-yeol over the Stampede in Seoul

On October 30, 2022, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Yoon Suk-yeol over the stampede in Seoul that has caused heavy casualties.

Xi Jinping said that he was shocked to learn of the heavy casualties in the stampede in the ROK capital Seoul. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi extended deep condolences over the deaths of the victims and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured. Noting that several Chinese citizens were unfortunately killed or injured in the accident, Xi expressed the hope that the ROK side will make every effort to treat those injured and handle the follow-up matters properly.

On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council sent a message of condolence to ROK Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.
